Habitat for Humanity Montreal first became active in Quebec in January 1998. The initial project was completed on October 31, 1999 in the South-West borough, more precisely in the St. Henri neighborhood. It was a pair of townhouses that allowed two families to acquire their first home in 2000. Several hundred volunteers gave a hand to bring this to fruition.
A third house, right besides the first two, was erected in 2002-2003.
In 2006, Canada's 50th and Quebec's first ReStore opened its doors in Ville La Salle, near the Angrignon metro station and close to the Carrefour Angrignon.

The main event for 2007 is the realisaton of our first build in Montreal's East end. the selected site is on Hochelaga street in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.

The twin duplexes of Hochelaga street were completed in 2009, allowing four families to become homeowners between 2008 and 2010.
Meanwhile, during Spring 2009, we start a new construction project, again in the St. Henri neighborhood of the South-West borough. That duplex, built to the Novoclimat standard, was just recently certified LEED GOLD in March 2011.

During September 2009, the ReStore Renovation Center moves to the St. Henri neigborhood in the South-West borough, tripling its floor area. The ReStore is now located at 4399 Notre-Dame street West, corner of Ste. Marguerite, a mere 5 minutes from the Place St-Henri metro station.
In Autumn 2010, a new Habitat family accedes to home ownership!
