Staggering needs
Habitat for Humanity Montreal works with Habitat for Humanity Haiti to alleviate the enormous needs of this Caribbean nation.

Haiti needs a staggering level of assistance, after the January 12, 2010 earthquake displaced or made homeless one-and-a-half million persons.

Global Village

Habitat for Humanity has expanded its mission around the globe and had built more that 400 000  houses in more that 90 countries. These affordable houses are build to be respectful of the local climate and traditions using local materials and involving local workers, which helps in developing these communities.

Thousands of Canadians support this work through the Global Village program that organises one- or two-week guided trips each year. These trips allow small teams of people to live a unique experience by discovering a country and the way its inhabitents live in a very particular fashion.

Jimmy Carter, special ambassador of Habitat for Humanity

Every year, for many years, the former president of the United States, Jimmy Carter, has led a special mission on behalf of Habitat for Humanity in a selected country. This program is the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project.

Volunteers from everywhere in the world join the Carter couple for a blitz that sees the build of many houses in the span of a week. In 2011 and 2012, the couple will be building in Haïti.
