Everybody Needs a Home

Envision a world where everybody has a safe and decent place to live.

Ten Thousand Villages and Habitat for Humanity Canada believe that having a home is a fundamental human right. That’s why $10 from the purchase of every Ten Thousand Villages birdhouse sold in-store or online, will be donated to Habitat for Humanity Canada.

Buy a bird a home and your purchase will help provide the hand up of homeownership to low income families in need.

Many options are available for you to support the mission of Habitat for Humanity in Montreal, the province of Québec, in Canada or world wide.

Money donation or gift in kind

We have defined a sponsorship program that we will be glad to send you on request. Based on the importance of the donation, various levels of visibility are available.

It could be a money donation of a gift in kind. We welcome gifts in kind

1. to build our houses, particularly to support our efforts to build LEED or Novoclimat compliant projects;
2. to resell at our ReStore Renovation Center. The money generated by the sale of these gifts in kind is first used to cover our administrative costs. The surpluses are used to buy land and finance our build projects.

Montreal families need Habitat for Humanity Montreal!  With over 24,000 families on the social housing waiting list, and 6,000 to 7,000 additional applicants per year*, finding a decent, safe and affordable place to live is not easy.

Habitat Montreal has incredible support in the community - our volunteers, donors and sponsors are generous with their time, money and their contacts - but how can we build homes without land?

Finding affordable land to build on is our biggest obstacle!

There are many ways to donate money to Habitat for Humanity

1. You write a check to the order of Habitat pour l'humanité Montréal. Then mail the check to the attention of the Treasure at 4399, rue Notre-Dame Ouest  Montréal, Qc  H4C 1R9
2. You can also make a donation via the CanadaHelps button located in the top right corner of this screen.

12-year-old “Meaning of Home” contest finalist donates $5,000 prize to Habitat for Humanity Montreal

As part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the English Montreal School Board (EMSB), students from 21 elementary and high schools raised $17,727.86 for Habitat for Humanityís Global Village program and its projects in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Egypt.

As Regional finalist of Genworth Financial Canada's 2008 writing contest "The Meaning of Home", Michelle Stoopler, a fifth-grader, donated 5 000 $ to Habitat for Humanity Montreal (HFHM) on June 18, 2009
